Operation Threshold

Due to a major flood in 2008, Operation Threshold was damaged beyond repair and needed a new home.  A new location was selected, allowing Operation Threshold to be located next to the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, creating the area’s first Human Services Campus. To maximize efficiency and reduce costs, it shares geothermal wells with the other buildings on the campus.

The nearly 28,000 square foot building two-story building was complete in January 2011.  Operation Threshold serves Black Hawk, Buchanan, and Grundy counties.  Operation Threshold offers assistants and services including: WIC, stork’s nest, energy assistance, foreclosure preventions, crisis assistance, housing, and home weatherization.  The agency services approximately 20,000 low-income residents each year.

The building achieved LEED Silver certification.
