Waterloo Fire Station Number 2

posted on October 27, 2015 in Government

StruXture Architects has provided architectural services for the design of six of seven fire stations for the City of Waterloo, including the headquarters and 5 of its substations major substations.  Fire Station #2 is the latest design and replaced one of the substations to accommodate growing commercial re-development around Crossroads Mall and allow for better and improved access to the main streets surrounding that area.  It has a three bay vehicle garage with living quarters for firemen on the first level, designed with single occupancy sleeping rooms, rather than the more common dormitory style, and featuring a state-of-the-art modern kitchen.  The second level has fitness and recreation spaces.
