Waterloo Kittrell Elementary

posted on October 26, 2015 in Education

This 450-student elementary for the Waterloo Schools incorporates a design that was chosen to be prototyped for future elementary schools in the district. The K-5 building is segmented into classroom wings that radiate out from the building’s core activities. Each wing divides learning levels and incorporates shared resource spaces for each.

Built as a replacement building, the design allowed the facility to be built on the existing site while keeping the existing school operating until the new one was ready to be occupied. After moving into the new structure, the old building be removed and the site rebuilt to provide a finished, park-like setting.
