Cedar Falls Holmes Junior High School

This project included multiple additions totaling 23,000 SF. The new space houses part of the administrative office complex, a new gym with a platform stage, weight and wrestling rooms, instrument storage and family and consumer science classrooms. Also incorporated into the design was a brand new geothermal HVAC system for the entire school.
The new spaces allowed for extensive remodeling within the existing school, which turned the existing office space, weight room and wrestling room into an updated media center and added two new computer labs. The existing media center now houses the school’s administrative offices. Movable walls, which separated many of the school’s classrooms, were replaced with permanent walls, which allowed for technology upgrades throughout those rooms. The entire project was phased over a two-year period while education continued in the building.
